Rabbi Hayes moved to Ottawa in1977 together with his wife Chana and newborn daughter, as an
emissary of Chabad Lubavitch, to strengthen Jewish education in Ottawa.
From 1977 to date Rabbi Hayes has been involved in the opening of a Preschool, afternoon
school, Day camp and a Day school, which 6 years ago joined with Torah Academy to form
what is today, Torah Day School.
Rabbi Hayes has taught students from grade one through High school and numerous adult
education classes. Presently Rabbi Hayes teaches the 5/8 boys’ class.
