General Studies Curriculum (K-8)—The important foundation of learning.

General Studies

Our General Studies program strives to meet and exceed the expectations of the Ontario Curriculum. Students receive a well-rounded education in Mathematics, Language, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, the Arts, and French. This is to provide our students with a strong academic foundation while continuing to foster curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

Learning extends beyond the classroom through hands-on experiences, inquiry-based learning, field trips, creative projects, leadership opportunities, and school-wide events. These meaningful experiences help students make real-world connections, develop confidence, and cultivate a genuine enthusiasm for learning.

Our goal is to nurture the whole child – mind, character, and soul. We strive to foster a lifelong love of learning, a strong sense of community, Jewish identity, and ethical values by blending Mesorah with innovative teaching practices in a warm, caring, and engaging learning environment.

    • Mathematics

Our Mathematics program follows the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum and is designed to build a strong conceptual understanding while helping students apply mathematical thinking to real-world situations. Through an inquiry-based approach, students investigate, problem-solve, collaborate, and develop confidence in their mathematical reasoning. Learning is organized around the five curriculum strands: Number, Algebra, Data, Spatial Sense, and Financial Literacy. Throughout the year, students are taught the seven mathematical processes: problem solving, reasoning and proving, reflecting, selecting tools and computational strategies, connecting, representing, and communicating.

    • Language

Our Language program follows the Ontario Language Curriculum and develops students’ skills in oral communication, reading, writing, and literacy. Students build confidence as effective communicators by engaging with a variety of texts and authentic learning experiences. Through meaningful opportunities to read, write, speak, listen, view, and represent, students strengthen their literacy skills while developing critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for language.

    • Science

Our Science program follows the Ontario Science and Technology Curriculum and develops students’ scientific inquiry, research, and technological problem-solving skills. Through hands-on investigations, experiments, observations, and design challenges, students learn to think critically, ask questions, and apply scientific knowledge to everyday life.

    • Social Studies

Our Social Studies program follows the Ontario Social Studies, History, and Geography Curriculum and prepares students to become informed, responsible, and active citizens. Students develop critical thinking, inquiry, research, and communication skills while learning about Canada and the world from historical, geographical, political, economic, and environmental perspectives.
