Our Head of School
Welcome to Torah Day School of Ottawa!
Hello and welcome to the 5785-5786 academic year! We are thrilled to welcome our students, parents, and faculty to another year of learning and growth at Torah Day School!
Though I am only entering my second year at Torah Day, I am fully committed to nurturing a community where students embrace השתדלות – putting our best efforts toward continuous improvement. Our aim is not merely to impart knowledge but to help our students grow holistically. It is this preliminary habit that allows students to strive for success and become life-long learners. By creating a supportive environment, we aim to cultivate individuals who understand that there are successes as well as failures along the path of a meaningful life. We hope to nurture growth through small consistent efforts towards self-improvement, making the journey itself fulfilling. Rabbi Tarfon states in Pirkei Avos: “It is not upon you to complete the work, but you are not free to neglect it” (Pirkei Avos 2:16). His words reveal that Hashem wants us to do our very best – not give heed to the results (see Yachin: הרבה הזאת כל שביכלתך“- ד”ה ולא אתה בן חורין ליבטל ממנה”).
May HaKadosh Baruch Hu bless our parent body and faculty with a year of השתדלות for all our precious Talmidim and Talmidos here at Torah Day School.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Nachum Aaron Kutnowski
Head of School
